How SEED Consulting Helps Stop Human Trafficking Through BEST

BEST Impact Story Image

Organization Overview

Businesses Ending Slavery and Trafficking (BEST) is a nonprofit organization with the mission to educate employers to prevent human trafficking and create pathways to employment for survivors. BEST’s goal is to empower businesses to take an active role in the fight against human trafficking by providing the necessary tools, resources, and training to create safe and supportive work environments for everyone. BEST strives to create a world where all people are free.

Partnership Overview

Businesses can play a crucial role in supporting communities and making a positive impact in the fight against human trafficking. By using services like SEED Consulting, businesses can contribute to charities and help create a better world for everyone. SEED Consulting helps businesses flourish—and they also help businesses support vulnerable people in the wider community. Working with SEED Consulting ensures that businesses are making a positive impact on the world around them because fees from their consulting work are passed to nonprofits like BEST.

The Impact of the Donation

By partnering with BEST, SEED Consulting is preventing human trafficking and investing in the lives of others. For example, BEST’s hotel training program helped a young woman who was offered a ride from Washington to California by an older woman she was introduced to. Along the way, the older woman pulled off the freeway and stopped at a hotel. The two women had not checked in when the hotel front desk staff heard a loud argument between them coming from a restroom near the lobby. The argument escalated, then moved to the parking lot. A front desk employee went to the parking lot, intervened, and brought the young woman safely back inside the hotel. The other woman drove away.

The young woman shared with the hotel employees that the older woman had been trying to force her into sex trafficking at the hotel. The employees called the police, who involved the FBI. Luckily, the staff at this particular hotel had been trained with BEST’s Inhospitable to Human Trafficking training. They were able to recognize that that the situation was human trafficking, and they safely intervened to prevent a young woman from being exploited.

BEST is grateful to be a nonprofit recipient of the generosity of SEED Consulting. They are leveraging the power of business to propel philanthropy by using their consulting services to not only help more companies be successful, but to also support charitable causes such as ours, to prevent human trafficking. It is a special consulting company that will set aside its own profits to help others. For that, BEST is deeply thankful.
